Have you ever noticed how time never stands still? Our days become scripted—wake up, go to work, eat dinner, clean up, do the laundry. REPEAT.
As we move through life, we often experience flashes of what happened, but rarely do we stop to savor the moments. I don't know about you but I don’t want just brief glimpses. I want lasting memories. That’s why there’s truth in the saying, “Take time to smell the roses” or “Savor every bite.” These small acts of mindfulness create moments of awareness—moments that stick with you.
To quote Hootie and the Blowfish: "Time, why you punish me? Like a wave bashing onto the shore, you wash away my dreams."
Time waits for no one. It’s here, and then it’s gone. If you don’t take advantage of it, you lose it, there’s no do over. Adios tiempo!
Creating freedom in your life—whether through becoming debt-free, building your own business, or carving out time for yourself—puts you in control. Have you ever lost someone close to you and been expected to bounce back to “normal” in just a few days? When my dad passed away, my employer gave me a standard three-day bereavement period. That’s it. I took five days but went back to work, and every hour was torture. I couldn’t focus, and the weight of my loss was unbearable. If I hadn’t spent so much time chasing someone else’s dream by clocking in every day, I could’ve given myself the freedom to mourn and heal on my own terms.
Time waits for no one.
Ed Mylett, in his book The Power of One More, offers an interesting perspective: you can create three days within a single 24-hour period. How? By dividing your day into three segments:
This approach forces you to rethink how you spend your time. You don’t have to adopt this method overnight, but it’s a powerful reminder that there is time if you make time. So stop making excuses and use time to your advantage. Stop scrolling for hours or binging on Netflix.
Now, sing this with me in your best Hootie voice (and slur your words a little for effect):"Time without courage. And time without fear is just wasted, wasted, wasted time."
Don’t be like Hootie and unfriend time. That’s a big diss. Instead of letting time run your life, take charge. Use it wisely to build the life you’ve been dreaming of and deserve.
Until next time,
